Where your family is our family...

Welcome Home!

At Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehabilitation, our slogan is "Where your family is our family" and that is a fact. We are a dually certified facility which allows us to offer our services to those in need of inpatient or outpatient services. Our extensively trained staff is here for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We strive to make you and your family feel comfortable, at ease and yes... at home.

Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing Facility provides specialized, extended skilled nursing and rehabilitative care in a safe, welcoming environment. With an emphasis on maintaining quality of life and the dignity of our residents, our small size (only 69 beds) allows us to provide warm, individualized care in a home-like setting. Our compassionate and professional staff provides 24-hour nursing care, including assistance with daily living tasks such as dressing and personal care. We also have a Special Needs Unit, specializing in the care of those with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

If you feel that your loved one is not ready for the nursing home, but they need that extra assistance in their daily routine, our Assisted Living Facility may be a better option. With the same type of nursing assistance available to our nursing home residents (24 hours a day, 7 days a week), our one bedroom apartments offer residents the independence that they want and offer you the comfort of knowing your loved one is taken care of.

Community activities include everything from art classes to pet visits. Good Shepherd also provides podiatry, vision and psychiatric services, as well as, your choice of hospice providers, so we are able to meet the needs of every person we care for.

Testimonials

“We could not have chosen a better place for our mother/grandmother. She was a resident in the assisted living facility and then later moved to your nursing home facility where she stayed until the age of 104. She was loved by many. She always spoke of how kind everyone at your facility was to her. Thank you for your services!"

"...For the next 11 months, the staff at Good Shepherd worked around this old man, always in the way, asking questions and showing me undeserved respect while they gave Twila the kind of care I had tried to give... I soon learned that they were not to be looked on as a nursing home, but that each one was almost a family unit. Yes, this would be a much better world if families showed each other the love they showed us... I'll always have love for the people of Good Shepherd Nursing Home!"

"My mother was a resident of Good Shepherd Nursing Home for 32 months. I was very happy and satisfied with the decision to place her in this facility. The staff and administration were always attentive to her and the family's requests and concerns. The food was one of the things I was impressed with and also with the quality of care she received, especially in the Special Needs Unit. There was great desire in the employees to make her stay an enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend this facility!"

"Dear Good Shepherd Friends,

I will never be able to thank you enough for not only giving my Mom first rate professional care, but the loving friendship you showed her the past several years. She valued your friendship so much. The pat on the back, the occasional hug, the smile and the general kidding around absolutely made her day.

Sometimes we (myself included) tend to forget that our old folks at one point in time were also kids that liked to play sports, go to parties, or just enjoyed getting together with friends to have fun. We forget there was a time that our old folks got married, raised a family, worked hard and still liked having fun with family and friends. We forget a time came when our old folks made it to retirement age, slowed down some, enjoyed watching their grandchildren succeed in their many activities and yet still like to have some fun.

.....And then there came a time when our old folks finally just got old. It wasn't something they thought about or looked forward to, it just happened. They were forced to give up their independence, their modesty, their humility and become totally dependent on others just for day to day living. How much fun could that possibly be? But always the teacher, Mom once again showed me how to accept inevitable circumstances with dignity and grace and without complaint.

Somehow all of you found a way to make my Mom's last few years the best that they could possibly be. I know that your job was to care for my Mom, but you all went far above and beyond in the manner in which you cared about my Mom. The giving of your time is the most generous gift that you can ever possibly give someone. It may only be a brief moment, but a kind word still can be the difference between a really bad and a really good day.

When she was able, Mom would always share so many enjoyable comments and stories about so many of you. She liked being hugged. She liked the kiss on the cheek. She liked the teasing. In essence, she liked your attention. Mom really did consider all of you her family and I can't possibly thank you enough for being a friend to her in the final chapter of her life. As you cared for her, she too cared about you.

Thank you all so very much in the compassionate care that you gave to my Mom and I offer my very best wishes to each and every one of you in the commendable work that you do in the caring for others."
